2017 VaultWorX Pole Vault Summer Camps

This summer we are offering 3 super exciting camps!  We have a truly incredible line-up of coaches coming to the camps. These coaches represent what many would consider to be some of the best coaches the USA has to offer.  The Staff will be slightly different at each camp and may offer something just a little different for the participant.  These outstanding coaches were sought out to coach at VaultWorX because their programs reflect a similar model and encouraging styles that VaultWorX strives for every day.

Each camp follows the following CAMP SCHEDULE:
8:30AM to 4:30PM Daily.
Lunch will be about 1.5 hours daily to give athletes a breather between sessions.
$5 lunches from Subway will be available on-site daily.
Wednesday a chartered school bus will be taken to Pinchot State Park for lunch, swimming, and games (about 2.5 hours).

Registration - Use links at the top of the page to register for Camp.  ***We are still working on the registration system, so you can reserve a spot at this point without making a deposit.  We will be in touch soon as we work out the final details.

Coach Bob Phillips - Pole Vault Coach Virginia Tech

Former Virginia Tech All-American Bob Phillips is in his 31st year as coach of the Hokie pole vaulters. During that time, the vault program at Virginia Tech has risen to national prominence and to the top of the ACC. In the ten years of ACC membership, seventeen different Virginia Tech vaulters have qualified to the NCAA national championships a total of 45 times where they have earned All-America honors 34 times including three silver and two bronze medals. In that same time period, Tech vaulters have claimed 51 ACC conference medals including 26 ACC conference vault titles, more than all other schools in the ACC combined. In all, Phillips has coached 37 vaulters (26 men, 11 women) to conference championships since joining the staff, one junior national champion, seven NCAA medalists (top 3), and one qualifier to the IAAF World Championships.

While competing at Tech, Phillips set the school record in the indoor and outdoor vault. He was a four-time NCAA national qualifier and was named an All-American in 1980. Phillips was also a member of the U.S. National Team that took on Great Britain in 1984 and competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in July of that year. He was inducted into the Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Phillips has coached vaulters to 37 conference championship titles and was also a three-time Metro Conference, four-time indoor Virginia collegiate and four-time outdoor Virginia collegiate champion.

Coach Phillips has played a huge role in the development of the technical model at VaultWorX.  He is a coaching mentor to me and has become a part of the Concannon family as a regular in our house.  We are honored each time visits us and welcome him to our Summer Staff.

Coach Kelly Parker-

Coach Kelly, probably the most impressive thing about Kelly's vaulting career is that she did not pole vault in high school.  As the story is told, she spent many a day at her father's side coaching vaulters at meets and in practice sessions before ever touching a pole in college.  In 2011, 14'+ collegiate vaulters were part of a very select group of vaulters (and still are).  Kelly was part of that very elite group and was an accomplished athlete for Virginia Tech, which included All American honors.  She is an outstanding coach and has spent many hours coaching at the club and collegiate levels.  We welcome Kelly to our Summer Camp Staff.

Coach Joe Sarra - Pole Vault Coach at State College High School - PA

Coach Sarra has quickly made a huge name for himself on the high school pole vaulting scene.  In 2015, Joe's top girl matched the top jump of the year in PA with a 12'9" clear.  But no legacy is made with just one good athlete.  Joe quickly backed up his coaching effort this year by coaching the top jump of the year on the guys side in PA with a 15'7" bar, which also happened to be a Penn Relays Winner.  His top girl this year is a freshman who has cleared 11'9 in her high school debut and is backed up by another 11'+ girl.  A good coach is made by a commitment to a model that gets results.  Joe clearly has mastery of his model and is fired up to share it with the next generation of vaulters.  We are just as fired up to hear what Joe has to share with us!
